Issues in Web Design - What Colors Make a Difference

Color plays a very important role while designing a website. The color you choose can make a difference in attracting internet users to your site. Use of right color in web pages can affect the mood of the visitors and hence enhances business growth.

Mainly a website communicates to its visitors through two ways. One is content and the other one is creative use of color. Creating a balance between content and color of your webpage makes a big difference and creates an impact in the mind of visitors and it can help you in selling your product or service.

The primary colors used in web pages are red, blue and yellow. You can mix two to get a third color. All types of colors are associated with some kind of emotions. Understanding different variations of color and using them appropriately can make a powerful impact on internet users. That's why a web designer should spend several hours choosing exact color of the website. Color always matters more than what you think and you can't change them after a site is built.

Before deciding on color, you must keep in your mind the type of product/service you are trying to promote through your website. Think who your customers are and which color will appeal them. If it is a web-designing site, your choice may be blue, which means you are dependable enough to make a business.

1. Red-It represents danger or stop. It is the color of power and can easily grab the attention of online visitors.
2. Blue- It is the widely used color in websites. Blue emphasizes on seriousness, trustworthiness and success. Visitors may feel you are a dependable source.
3. Yellow-It is good in creating banners and logos. Yellow is associated with movement.
4. Black-The use of black is good in writing text and it is easy to read black words and phrases on white backgrounds.
5. Green- It is associated with money and security.
6. Purple- This color denotes royalty and justice. Therefore, many legal companies use purple in their web pages.

Use 3 to 4 colors while designing your web pages. The background color should be either black or white. White pages loads quicker than dark pages. The text color should be black as it is easier to read on white background. You can use contrast colors in headings and logos and links. Sometimes contrast colors are used in web pages like green and red to attract attention.

The use of right color will improve look of your site and hence helps in getting heavy traffic from your visitors.
